Montreal, February 11
A major storm is approaching and Environment Canada is warning that 25 to 40 centimetres of snow is expected.
A low pressure system from the American Midwest will intensify over the Great Lakes. Snow associated with this storm will begin over the Outaouais and Montreal regions Tuesday afternoon, and will reach the Quebec City region by Tuesday evening. The highest snowfall amounts should occur from Metro Montreal to the Eastern Townships.
Additionally, this storm will be accompanied by strong winds which will produce extensive blowing snow reducing visibilities to near zero.
Rapidly accumulating snow could make travel difficult over some locations. Visibility will be suddenly reduced to near zero at times in heavy snow and blowing snow.
Winter storm warnings are issued when multiple types of severe winter weather are expected to occur together.
